Malaysian AirAsia, the largest low-cost airline in Southeast Asia, announced on Monday it would raise ticket prices and reduce flight numbers to mitigate the impact of the Middle East war. The company, based in Malaysia, said it had canceled 10% of its total flights. Tony Fernandes, founder of AirAsia, stated that price increases were necessary even in the low-cost sector. Other flights, particularly those to Bahrain, will continue as scheduled. Bahrain is a key stop in the company's strategy to expand its network beyond Southeast Asia. AirAsia is set to officially launch its first Middle East hub in Manama in June.
