Malaysian Football Federation Committee Resigns Over Naturalized Players Scandal

All members of the Malaysian Football Federation's executive committee resigned yesterday following a scandal involving naturalized players who represented the national team in Asian Cup qualifiers. Last September, the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) suspended seven naturalized players for a year, imposed a $440,000 fine on the Malaysian Football Federation, and published a 19-page report. The FIFA Disciplinary Committee's report stated that the documents submitted by the Malaysian Federation were forged or altered, «manipulating the place of birth listed in them». The Malaysian Football Federation insisted it acted in good faith, claiming the error was 'technical'.
